The legal authority for the committee is established by Nevada Revised Statute 445B.830. The committee shall:

  1. Review applications for grants and make recommendations for their approval, rejection or modification;
  2. Establish goals and objectives for the program for control of emissions from motor vehicles;
  3. Identify areas where funding should be made available; and
  4. Review and make recommendations concerning regulations adopted pursuant to subsection 4 of NRS 445B.770.

The committee consists of 10 members appointed by the Deputy Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles. It meets at least quarterly. See Nevada Administrative Code 445B.853 - 857 for details.

The legal authority for the board is established by Nevada Revised Statute 487.002 as amended by the 2011 Nevada Legislature in Senate Bill 238. See also the board bylaws. The board shall:

  1. Study the regulation of garagemen, automobile wreckers, operators of body shops, operators of
    salvage pools, operators of authorized emissions stations and new and used motor vehicle dealers, including, without limitation, the registration or licensure of such persons and the methods of disciplinary action against such persons;
  2. Analyze and advise the Department relating to any consumer complaints received by the Department concerning garagemen, automobile wreckers, operators of body shops, operators of salvage pools, operators of authorized emissions stations and new and used motor vehicle dealers;
  3. Make recommendations to the Department for any necessary regulations or proposed legislation pertaining to paragraph (a) or (b);
  4. On or before January 15 of each odd-numbered year, prepare and submit a report concerning its activities and recommendations to the Governor and to the Director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau for transmission to the Legislature and the Chairs of the Senate and Assembly Standing Committees on Transportation; and
  5. Perform any other duty assigned by the Department.

The board consists of 10 members appointed by the Governor. It meets at least twice per year.
